In spite of its traditional image of calm and serenity,
Bournemouth has been the location of some particularly evil murders over
the years that produced national headlines. These - and the efforts
of the police to solve them and apprehend those concerned - will be discussed
as we tour appropriate sites. This walk can start on either the East
Cliff or West Cliff. Particular attention is given to the Telegram
Murder (1921), the Rattenbury Murder (1935) and the Chine Murder (Neville
Heath, 1946). Reference is also made to Bournemouth's links to
the Jack the Ripper murders, to the arrest of Doctor Crippen and to a famous
fictional Thomas Hardy murder.

"And so the Bournemouth Murders Walk party moved on, ambling
silently, down towards the pier, reflecting on the chilling facts that Mr
Walker had told us." (Daily Echo Magazine, 12th May 2001).
